About GA-AIMH
The Georgia Association for Infant Mental Health: Birth to Five (GA-AIMH) is dedicated to raising awareness of children's social and emotional needs, building professional capacities, fostering collaboration, and advocating for policies benefiting families. Our initiatives focus on promoting healthy development, facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration, emphasizing the importance of infant and early childhood services and supports – that's accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive –, and enhancing professional expertise to support early relational health.
Keynote Speaker: Stan Sonu, MD, MPH
Dr. Stan C. Sonu is an Assistant professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine; Associate Program Director for the Emory J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency program at Grady Health System.
Research interests include adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma-informed care, advancing health equity, and addressing social determinants of health in clinical care settings. Passionate about teaching about ACEs and training future clinicians on effective and patient-centered ways to address trauma in primary care. Engaged in efforts to build community consensus around responding to and preventing ACEs through cross-sector approaches. Hold additional training in urban primary care leadership (University of Chicago’s LUCENT program), integrative medicine (Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Northwestern University), medication-assisted treatment of opioid use disorders, and positive parenting practices (Triple P Primary Care).

GA-AIMH Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Champion and Emerging Leader Award Recipients
The Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Champion award acknowledges the efforts of individuals, organizations, and state agencies in Georgia. These awardees have successfully devised state-specific work plans, implementing effective strategies for infant and early childhood mental health, particularly in the realms of promotion, prevention supports, and the establishment of networks to enhance connections across systems. Their achievements include fostering collaboration, securing funding for initiatives, and advocating for a shared understanding of the objectives in infant and early childhood mental health, contributing to the development of a comprehensive system of care in Georgia. We are honored to have presented this award to CHRIS 180 New Generation Program, Wendy White-Tiegreen with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), and the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL).
The Emerging Leader award in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health acknowledges individuals on the rise, making substantial contributions to Georgia's infant and early childhood mental health field. These awardees exhibit notable growth in leadership and service, showcasing forward-thinking perspectives, innovative ideas, and a commitment to ongoing learning. We are delighted to have presented this award to Victrecia Hines from the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services and Heather Hastie, a private child and family therapist.
